Introduction to Armed Officer Expectations, Standards and Training (AOEST).

AOEST has been developed, and is led, by a lead instructor who has worked in and out of policing, and the armed security industry, and law lecturing, for more than 25 years. During that time, our lead instructor has worked in both uniform and executive protection roles. Our lead instructor is familiar with both state standards of training, major industry player standards and the armed officer requirements for several major industry players.

This course is ideal for personnel with limited to no firearms experience, and or those who wish to establish credibility with an employer in order that the employer recommends him or her for an armed role. The course has also been designed for the incumbent armed employee who wishes to sharpen their skills. A certificate is issued detailing the course and student outcome in order to assist in the process of obtaining employer support for a recommendation for an armed role.

The course includes:

  • Classroom instruction with various video presentations.

  • Practical drilling on the range.

  • Testing methods designed to qualify operator knowledge.

  • Safety and proficiency with a semi-automatic pistol.

  • Employer expectations, training, and PILB procedures.

Topics presented in this course include, but are not limited to:

  • Legal, including preemptive strike to defend against battery, as well as other legal excuses for self-defense.

  • Use-of-Force in enclosed and open environments.

  • Training Considerations.

  • Weapons Safety.

  • Administrative Weapons Handling.

  • Employer expectations of weapons handling, and how employers interpret use of force, and use of force policy.

  • Disassembly, maintenance; reassembly and function testing.

  • Fundamentals of Marksmanship

  • Ready Positions, Open & Concealed Presentations, PFC’s Shooting Responses, Combative Marksmanship

  • Ranges of Engagement

  • After-Action Procedures

  • One-Handed Shooting, Bilateral Shooting, Shooting Positions.

Length: Days / 16 Hours Enrollment: Open to security personnel, law enforcement, corrections, government employees and contractors, and Department of Defense Pre-requisite: None Cost: $250.00 per student.
